Conference: launching the project "Together for the Environment"

07. Mar 2023.

Within the five-year project Together for the Environment, the Belgrade Open School is organizing an Opening Conference of the project on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 (World Water Day), in order to inform and acquaint the public with planned project activities and opportunities for participation.

The Belgrade Open School and American Agency for International Development (USAID) implement the project "Together for the Environment in Serbia" whose aim is to improve environmental protection and biodiversity in Serbia. The project will be implemented in the period from 2022 to 2027 in cooperation with the Young Researchers of Serbia (YRS), the EcoNomic Expert Community Association (ENECA), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), global environmental organization The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia (AmCham).

As part of the conference, the Belgrade Open School together with its partners will present the project and gather representatives of various social sectors - public, civil and business, with the aim of developing joint cooperation. During the interactive part of the conference, the participants will have the opportunity to discuss with each other the importance of such a project, potential benefits, obstacles and the contribution they can provide through their expertise and action.

The conference will serve as a space for mapping the challenges faced by various actors during their work in the field of environmental protection and biodiversity in Serbia, as well as ways in which they can contribute to the preservation of the environment through joint cooperation.

Through the Together for the Environment project, the idea is that BOS will strive together with five other partners to empower citizens, the media, civil society organizations and the private sector so that they all stand together for a clean environment and responsible public authorities.

The focus of the project is also raising and strengthening the management capacity of protected nature areas, improving sustainable financing mechanisms for such areas and involving the business sector and citizens in the topics of environmental protection, biodiversity protection and clean air.
